Crunchyroll will screen Toshiya Shinohara and P.A. Works' “Dive in Wonderland” as part of Crunchyroll Anime Nights in November 2026.
Crunchyroll confirmed that it will screen Toshiya Shinohara and P.A. Works' "Alice in Wonderland: Dive to Wonderland", also known as "Dive in Wonderland", as part of Crunchyroll Anime Nights to be released for one night only in North American theaters, including the United States and Canada, on Monday, November 16th, after Fandango revealed the details for the screening in September 2026.
The anime film centers on Lise Azumino, a Japanese college student struggling through the job-hunting process. Highly sensitive to the expectations of others, Lise constantly suppresses her true personality to conform to social pressure, a habit that leaves her feeling burned out and lost.
Seeking a break from her stressful routine, she visits a countryside park built by her late grandmother, who was a passionate admirer of Lewis Carroll's works. While exploring the park, a White Rabbit steals her smartphone, leading Lise to chase after it. She falls down a rabbit hole and dives straight into Wonderland.
Inside Wonderland, she meets Alice, a cheerful young girl who becomes her guide. Together, they navigate the surreal landscapes and bizarre encounters iconic to Carroll’s world, from chaotic tea parties to trial by the Queen of Hearts.
As Lise overcomes visual and metaphorical trials, she realizes Wonderland reflects her internal emotional struggles. The journey becomes an allegory for self-discovery, teaching Lise to stop hiding her eccentricities and embrace who she really is.
The anime film was released in Japan in August 2025, directed by Toshiya Shinohara, written by Yuko Kakihara, and produced by animation studio P.A. Works. Based on Lewis Carroll's novels, including "Alice Adventures in Wonderland" in November 1885 and "Through the Looking-Glass" in December 1871, the film remains amusing and visually rich to watch, as it trades the original book's unsettling weirdness for a warm, cozy story about navigating young adulthood.
