Square Enix's "Final Fantasy XIV" release details were announced at the Final Fantasy Festival event.

Square Enix announced that "Final Fantasy XIV: Evercold" has a new release date for the expansion, moving from its original January 2027 window to Tuesday, February 23rd, 2027, with Early Access beginning on Friday, February 19th, 2027. In preparation for the expansion release, Square Enix confirmed that the game has reached 35 million registered accounts worldwide.

Evercold marks the start of a new narrative chapter titled the Godless Realms saga. Players will journey to the Fourth, one of the thirteen reflections of the Source world. The expansion introduces new creatures, including the Wanderer and Arcane Giants, along with system overhauls such as an updated Adventurer Activity interface and a shift toward weekly progression over daily tasks.

The expansion features a new physical ranged DPS job class called Zephyr, along with new dungeons and expansive areas including Sessrymnir (Realmship of Earth) and Skiðblaðnir (Realmship of Wind).

Content updates feature a "Final Fantasy VII"-themed eight-player raid series titled Beyond the Lifestream: Fated Collision, as well as a Collaboration Alliance Raid series titled Ghosts of Desire in partnership with Studio Khara's "Neon Genesis Evangelion".

"Final Fantasy XIV" is currently available on PC, macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 (support for the PlayStation 3 was discontinued in 2017).
