Emi Ishikawa, Shueisha Games, and Hakababunko's "Urban Myth Dissolution Center" manga has been finished.
Based on the video game series of the same name. The story centers on Azami Fukurai, a young woman who possesses the supernatural ability to see spirits and past traces of human activity. Hoping to find a cure for her condition, she visits the Urban Myth Dissolution Center, a mysterious agency that investigates and debunks occult rumors, cursed relics, and paranormal phenomena.
Azami is tricked by the director into breaking a cursed chair, forcing her to work off her debt by joining the center as an investigator. As she handles episodic cases, ranging from mirror ghosts and haunted boxes to doppelgängers and internet urban legends, she uncovers a deeper, darker conspiracy.
All the cases connect to a shadowy cyber-terrorist plot known as The Great Reset, orchestrated to expose private data online. In a major twist, Azami is revealed to be a split personality of the mastermind behind the events, Ayumi Kisaragi, who engineered the entire agency and its investigations to seek revenge for her brother's tragic fate.
The manga series was published in Shueisha's Ribon magazine, with Ishikawa writing the series, and Shueisha Games and Hakababunko as supervisors in April 2025, and was released in 3 manga volumes.
The video game series was published by Shueisha Games and developed by Hakababunko, where the video game series was released for the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in February 2025, followed by the Nintendo Switch 2 in October 2026. The video game series blends paranormal investigation with social media sleuthing, and it was chosen as one of eleven winners for the Awards for Excellence at the Japan Game Awards in 2025.
