Manga artist Keigo Maki draws the manga adaptation of Type-Moon’s “Witch on the Holy Night”.

The 49th 2026 issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine announced that Type-Moon's "Witch on the Holy Night" is getting a manga adaptation to be published in the 50th 2026 issue, to be released on Wednesday, November 11th. Manga artist Keigo Maki will draw the series, and Type-Moon is supervising the manga.

The story takes place in Misaki Town in the late 1980s and centers on Aoko Aozaki, a female high school student learning modern magecraft, and Alice Kuonji, a powerful, isolated female witch. They live together in a mysterious mansion on a hill.

She meets Soujuuro Shizuki, a naive transfer student who just moved to the city from a remote mountain background after he accidentally stumbles upon Aoko and Alice using magic in what was supposed to be an empty park.

Alice wants to eliminate Soujuuro to protect their identity, but Aoko takes a liking to his earnest nature and spares him. To monitor and keep quiet for Soujuuro, they drag him back to live with them in the large mansion. While navigating this strange new living arrangement, a rogue magic entity begins attacking Alice's barriers, forcing the trio to team up and investigate the threat.

Based on the novel released for PC in Japan in April 2012, which serves as a prequel to "Tsukihime" and explores the backstory of Shiki Tohno's master, Aoko Aozaki.

It was adapted into an anime film to be released in Japanese theaters on Friday, November 20th. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release the anime film worldwide in selected countries in the Americas, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East, and Asia in January 2027.
