Oreco Tachibana's "Firefly Wedding" receives a live-action series in 2027.

Fuji Television announced that they are producing the live-action series adaptation of Oreco Tachibana's "Firefly Wedding", which will air in 2027, after the airing of the pilot episode of the anime series on Friday.

The story centers on Satoko Kirigaya, a young noblewoman from the Kirigaya family, who is beautiful, intelligent, and from a respected family name, but she suffers from a serious heart condition that limits her lifespan.

She encounters Shinpei Goto, an assassin who has been hired to kill Satoko. When Shinpei agrees to marry Satoko, they are forced to survive dangerous situations.

Shinpei is haunted by his past but begins to show care, obsession, and fierce protection toward Satoko. Satoko has very little time left before her heart stops.

The manga series was published on Shogakukan's MangaOne and Ura Sunday digital manga platform from January 2023 to August 2026, and released in 13 manga volumes, including the 13th and final volume to be released on Sunday, October 18th. Comikey released the series digitally, and Viz Media licensed the series and released it in English, with the first manga volume released in January 2025.

It also received achievements, including the Grand Prize winner at NTT Solmare's Minna ga Erabu Denshi Comic Taisho in 2024, a nomination in the Kodansha Manga Awards in the Best Shojo Manga category in 2024, and a nomination in the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2025.

It was adapted into an anime series that aired in October 2026, where the series placed 3rd runner-up in the Most Wanted Anime Adaptation poll according to AnimeJapan in 2025.
