Mockingbird Pictures Philippines will release Kaori Mado's "You, Fireworks, and Our Promise" in October 2026.

Mockingbird Pictures Philippines announced the release of Kaori Mado's "You, Fireworks, and Our Promise" in the Philippines as part of the Japanese Film Festival Philippines, exclusively at selected SM Cinemas on Wednesday, October 21st.

The story centers on Makoto Natsume (played by Shori Sato of Timelesz), a shy and reserved student from Tokyo who was drawn into an unexpected summer mystery. He meets Aki Hayama (played by Nanoka Hara), a bright class president and a freshman who carries a family prediction and a strange painting linked to Makoto.

Aki reveals a bizarre detail from her past: her grandmother once predicted she would meet a boy named Makoto in the future. The two connect over a mysterious painting of fireworks that bears Makoto's name.

To unravel the mystery behind the drawing and the prophecy, they travel to Niigata Prefecture for the Nagaoka Festival Grand Fireworks Show, one of Japan's major fireworks traditions. As they search the past for answers, they discover a forgotten promise that intertwines their lives and forces them to make a crucial choice about their future.

Based on the novel written by Kaori Mado, published by Note from August to October 2025, and adapted into a light novel with illustrations by Akamoku, published in Shogakukan's Gagaga Bunko in December 2025. It was adapted into a manga drawn by Yomiya Ririura in Shogakukan's Sunday Webry in March 2026, and a single volume was released.

The anime film is directed by Kei Suzuki and was released in Japan on Friday, July 17th, 2026. Produced by animation studios SynergySP and The Answer Studio, with Shin-Ei Animation handling production and planning. Kohei Mori is writing the scripts, and Arisa Okehazama is composing the music.

Timelesz consists of Sato, along with Fuma Kikuchi, So Matsushima, Shuto Inomata, Taiki Shinozuka, Masaki Hashimoto, Takuto Teranishi, and Yoshitaka Hara, who perform the theme song, "Eternal Fireworks".
