Manga Mavericks and Omoi are releasing Mann Izawa and Yumiko Igarashi's "Georgie" manga in English.

Manga Mavericks and Omoi have announced they will publish Mann Izawa and Yumiko Igarashi's "Georgie" in English digitally on Omoi in spring 2027, and Manga Mavericks will release two volumes of the deluxe edition in print, including the first volume, which features 480 pages, to be released in August 2027.

The story centers on Georgie Buttman, a lively, blonde-haired tomboy raised on a rural farm in 19th-century Australia by her adoptive parents and two adoptive brothers, Abel Buttman and Arthur Buttman.

She always wears a mysterious golden bracelet, and her adoptive mother is surprisingly cold and strict toward her, unlike her loving adoptive father. After her adoptive father dies trying to protect her, the secret comes out: Georgie is an orphan found by the side of a dead woman, and Abel and Arthur are not her biological brothers.

Driven by her past and an infatuation with an English aristocrat named Lowell J. Gray, Georgie travels to London to uncover her true lineage, and Abel and Arthur follow her.

The manga series was published in Shogakukan's Shojo Comic magazine, which Izawa wrote and Igarashi illustrated from 1982 to 1984, and released in 5 manga volumes. It was adapted into a 45-episode anime series that aired in April 1983.

The manga and anime series feature a fascinating study of contrast and became an unshakeable, beloved international cult classic, leaving a footprint defined by beautiful aesthetics, extreme melodrama, and intense censorship battles.
