Daigo Murasaki and Kureta's "Demon Lord 2099" ends in the 6th light novel volume.
Kadokawa's Fantasia Bunko announced that Daigo Murasaki and Kureta's "Demon Lord 2099" will end in the 6th light novel volume.
The story centers on Veltol Velvet Velsvalt, the ancient, ambitious Demon Lord of Alneath, slain centuries ago by the legendary human hero, Gram. When the fantasy world of Alneath merged with Earth during a catastrophic event called Fantasion, the two worlds fused into a high-tech cyberpunk landscape where magic and machinery coexist.
Awakening in a futuristic world of towering skyscrapers and mega-corporations, Veltol sets out to conquer this new era. However, his magical powers are severely weakened because they rely on the belief and emotional energy of followers. To build his influence and regain power, he adapts to modern society, even resorting to methods like video game livestreaming and navigating underground conspiracies.
The light novel series was published in Fujimi Shobo's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko in January 2021, with Murasaki writing and Kureta illustrating, and it was released in 5 light novel volumes. It also received achievements, including winning the Fantasia Grand Prize in 2020.
It was adapted into a manga series, with Kiiro Akashiro drawing the first manga series on Kadokawa Shoten's Shonen Ace Plus manga website in November 2021, and it ended abruptly in June 2022 for unknown reasons. It was also adapted into a second manga series drawn by Yutaka Sakurai in the same manga website in March 2023 and ended in August 2024, and released in 3 manga volumes.
Yen Press licensed the series and released it in English, with the first light novel volume released in March 2022, and a manga volume drawn by Yutaka Sakurai served as an omnibus edition in December 2025.
It was adapted into a 12-episode anime series that aired in October 2024.
