East of Eden posted a lyric OP MV for Kazuma Kamachi and Nilitsu's "A Certain Dark Item".
The official YouTube channel of East of Eden posted a lyric MV for "Ghost Sequence", and the song serves as the OP theme song for Kazuma Kamachi and Nilitsu's "A Certain Item of Dark Side", also known as "A Certain Dark Item", which has been released. The band's CD single will be released on Wednesday, November 4th.
The song is about surviving in a brutal, morally complicated world while holding on to your own will and protecting the people who matter to you. It portrays a world filled with violence, isolation, blurred moral boundaries, and painful choices. Rather than promising that everything will turn out well, it explores the determination to keep moving forward even when there is no clear path to salvation. The group consists of Minato Akane on vocals, Ayasa on violin, producer and leader, Yuki on guitar, Mina on bass, and Mizuki on drums.
The song is about enduring a broken world without surrendering the things that give your life meaning. It acknowledges that pain cannot always be undone, loneliness cannot always be eliminated, and the right choice is not always obvious. Nevertheless, people can still choose to move forward, protect what they value, and build connections amid the darkness.
The message of the song can be summarized as: you may be haunted by your past and trapped in circumstances you never chose. You may not be able to change the world or save everyone. But you can still choose what you stand for, whom you stand beside, and what you refuse to abandon. Being wounded by the world does not mean you must let the world decide who you become.
The story takes place in the "A Certain Magical Index" and "A Certain Scientific Railgun" universe. The story follows the members of ITEM, led by Shizuri Mugino, the fearless leader of the group and one of Academy City's seven Level 5 espers. They're an all-female mercenary unit working in the immoral underworld of Academy City, handling secret and dirty work that cannot be made public.
The anime series will be streamed on Crunchyroll as part of the fall 2026 anime season, available in the Americas (including North, Central, and South America), Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and the CIS, and also on Muse Asia in selected Asian countries, every Friday.
