Legendary Entertainment and Capcom's "Street Fighter" live-action film claims the top spot in the United States box office.

Entertainment news websites Box Office Mojo, Deadline, and The Wrap report that Legendary Entertainment and Capcom's "Street Fighter" live-action film claimed the top spot in the United States Box Office from October 16th to 18th.

As of Monday, October 19th. The live-action film has earned US$20.1 million in 65 markets outside of the United States, including the Philippines, for an estimated total of US$51.1 million in the opening weekend globally. The IMAX screenings earned US$7.7 million globally, with US$5.4 million earned in the United States and US$2.3 million from overseas markets.

Deadline reports that the opening total is lower than the US$70 million that the staff had hoped for; the revenues from ancillary sources will eventually make up for the US$82 million production budget.

Based on the fighting video game series. The story follows estranged martial arts and best friends Ryu and Ken Masters as they compete in the global fighting tournament.

The military dictator M. Bison mounts a global fighting tournament under his organization, Shadaloo. His goal is to lure out Ryu because of his dark technique and superhuman energy, which he plans to siphon using a special machine.
