GKids releases Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “Look Back” live-action film in North American theaters in January 2027.
GKids announced the release date of the live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's "Look Back", beginning with the one-shot screening in selected North American theaters on Wednesday, December 30th, followed by the wider release on Friday, January 15th, 2027.
The story centers on Ayumi Fujino, an elementary school girl with a talent for drawing manga, which she publishes in the school's newspaper. She met Kyomoto, an aspiring female manga artist who published her manga.
Two young artists from a small town inspire each other to improve their art and become manga creators. But as they grow up, a tragedy will change their lives forever.
The live-action film was released first in Japan in September 2026. The film is a tender, double-length coming-of-age drama that trades the tight punch of the 2024 anime for a slow-paced, atmospheric portrait of grief and artistic obsession.
Creazion Studios International will release the live-action film in the Philippines at selected SM Cinemas on Wednesday, November 25th.
