Idea Factory International and Compile Heart’s “Villion: Code” releases outside Japan in January 2027.

Idea Factory International announced that Compile Heart's "Villion: Code" will be released for the PlayStation, including PS4 and PS5, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and PC via Steam in North America and Europe on Tuesday, January 26th, 2027.

Pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition available through the PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, and Steam to receive a 124-page digital art book featuring illustrations by character designer Ilya Kuvshinov and a short story collection written by scenario writer Tadashi Satomi, and a 27-track digital soundtrack, composed by Tsukasa Masuko.

The story centers on a 6th-year student in the Life Sciences Department at the Adhvan Resilience School, a floating academy city located in Tokyo Bay. He can swap Genome Arms on the fly during real-time combat. 

When a sudden bioterror attack turns a portion of the students and staff into monsters called GEMs. The city seals itself inside a mysterious energy bubble, trapping everyone inside. The protagonist and their friends are also infected by the attack. However, a gifted friend administers a vaccine. This stops full transformation, granting them the ability to willingly shift into superhuman forms using mutated weapons called Genome Arms.

The group forms Adhvan Rebs to rescue survivors, find the culprit behind the attack, and explore the Sankhara Spacetime, surreal, tube-shaped alternate dimensions tied to Buddhist concepts of human evil and the karma or sins of the dungeon bosses.

The gameplay features real-time combat, 360-degree tube-shaped dungeons, and unique mechanics like Genome Editing and arena combat features.
