Kota Kawae's "Nue's Exorcist" receives an anime adaptation, which will air in July 2027.

The official website of Kota Kawae's "Nue's Exorcist" announced that the anime adaptation is in the works and revealed the details, including the cast and staff, which will air in July 2027. To commemorate the announcement of the anime, Kawae is drawing an illustration to celebrate the news.

The cast for the anime series includes Kaito Miura as Gakuro Yajima, a first-year male high school student from North High who was an ordinary, timid boy with nothing remarkable about him, except that he could see spirits. He is drawn into the extraordinary world where Spirits and Exorcists collide.

Saori Onishi as Nue, Gakuro's partner and a spirit that resides at North High. She had been sealed in a room at the school for over 60 years, and it was only when the seal weakened that she happened to encounter Gakuro. Though she appears in the form of a human woman, her true form is believed to be that of a genuine spirit.

Hiroyuki Hashimoto is directing the anime at the animation studio Studio Hibari. Together with Hiroshi Seko is writing the series composition, Shunpei Mochizuki is designing the characters, and Monaca is composing the music.

The manga series was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in May 2023, and released in 16 manga volumes. Viz Media licensed the series and released it in English, with the first manga volume released in June 2024 for digital and July 2025 for print.

It also received achievements including 7th runner-up in the Print Manga category at the Next Manga Awards in 2024 and placed first in the Most Wanted Anime Adaptation poll according to AnimeJapan in 2025.
