Marvel and Kadokawa manga lineup officially debuts at New York Comic Con.
Marvel announced at the Marvel Comics: House of Ideas panel at New York Comic Con that the company is releasing five new manga titles in collaboration with Kadokawa.
The first chapters of the five manga series are available for free viewing:
Teru's "Iron Man: I Am Iron Man".
Tokitokoro's "Spider-Man: Shibuya Cross Line".
Hosuke Momoi's "Deadpool: Millionaire With a Mouth".
Ryusei Yamada's "Spider-Gwen: Her Big Debut".
Peperon's "Venom: Lethal Protector".
In July 2026, Marvel announced at the San Diego Comic-Con International that the company has signed a partnership with Kadokawa to publish manga adaptations of Marvel characters.
Former Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski moved to Tokyo to take the helm as Editor of Asia Originals, shifting Marvel's strategy toward direct, integrated Japanese IP production rather than one-off licensing deals.
In February 2026, Marvel announced that the company ended their partnership with Shogakukan and Shueisha due to the licensing agreement lapse with Walt Disney Japan.
The main reason is that both companies' licensing and publishing contracts with Walt Disney Japan and U.S. Marvel Comics expired or were terminated by mutual agreement.
Shueisha is pulling digital versions of collaborative manga from storefronts, and physical print volumes are no longer being reprinted and will only be available while existing store inventory lasts.
Marvel is shifting its Japanese manga and publishing efforts, with new projects transitioning to publishers. The new titles debut digitally on Kadokawa's KadoComi platform before printing into volumes.
