Neoshoco's "Phantom Busters" receives an anime that will air in 2027.
The official website of Neoshoco's "Phantom Busters" announced that the anime adaptation is in the works and revealed the details, including the cast and staff, and that it will air in 2027. To commemorate the announcement of the anime, manga artist Neoshoco is drawing an illustration to celebrate the news.
The cast for the anime series includes Natsuki Hanae as Eugene Korekishi, a straight-A, studious honor student with a rigid routine and zero psychic powers. Initially a total non-believer, he acts as the practical-minded brains and straight man of the group after meeting Mogari. Nobuhiko Okamoto as Mogari Shishikuno, the heir of a mysterious Shishikuno clan, has boundless energy and a massive appetite, exorcising spirits by eating them.
Koki Uchiyama as Kaoru Kanzaki, a transfer student who has been able to see and interact with ghosts since childhood. Harassed by both spirits and peers in the past, he sports a delinquent-style look with white hair to scare people off, joining the club as their eyes into the supernatural. Ryota Suzuki as Kotaro Tamon, an extremely shy, socially anxious gentle giant who possesses the ability to hear the voices of the dead. While he communicates easily with spirits, he struggles severely with talking to living humans.
Chika Nagaoka is directing the anime at the animation studio Toho Animation, and Takahiro Kishida and Rina Iwamoto are designing the characters.
The manga series was published in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine in August 2023 and released in 8 manga volumes. It also received recognition, including 19th runner-up and 14th runner-up in the Print Manga category at the Next Manga Awards in 2024 and 2025, and placed 4th in the Most Wanted Anime Adaptation Poll according to AnimeJapan in 2025.
Viz Media licensed the series and released it in English, with the first manga volume released in October 2025.
