Noboru Takahashi's "The Mole's Song" ends in 5 chapters.
The October 2026 issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine announced that Noboru Takahashi's "The Mole's Song" or "Mogura no Uta" will end in 5 chapters, after the series has reached its 1,000th chapter of the series.
The story centers on Reiji Kikukawa, a hot-headed, hyper-moralistic, and rule-breaking police officer who graduates with the worst record in police academy history. He was abruptly fired from the police force in an official cover-up. The police chief secretly recruits him to become an undercover agent.
His objective is to infiltrate the Sukiya organization, the largest and most dangerous yakuza syndicate in the Kanto region, led by chairman Shuho Todoroki, to find solid evidence and take the organization down.
To survive and climb the ranks of the underworld, Reiji has to dive headfirst into chaotic power struggles, eccentric mafia rituals, rival yakuza syndicates, and massive international drug-smuggling conspiracies
The manga series was published in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday magazine from August 2005 to July 2008, before the series moved to Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in September 2008, and was released in 97 manga volumes, including the upcoming 97th volume to be released on Friday, October 30th. It also received achievements including the winner of the Shogakukan Manga Award for Best General Manga category in 2014.
It was adapted into three live-action films directed by Takashi Miike, including "Undercover Agent Reiji" in February 2014, "Hong Kong Capriccio" in December 2016, and "Final" in November 2021.
